A tiny break from pottery

This week was my last pottery class for a little bit. Penny has a break between semesters and she's also taking a couple of extra weeks off to go to Straddie. I would be jealous except that the weather's not the nicest and it's starting to get into my it's-way-too-cold-to-swim seasonal window.

Anyway, I have a few small treasures to share from the latest round of firings.

These ones started out looking like this. The glaze has turned out a lot milkier and runnier than Penny and I expected so the impressions in the base of the bowls have disappeared. I'm still happy with the resulting milky, purple-y effect of the glaze over the terracotta.

This one goes with this one. The green colour has turned out a little differently because the black edged bowl was fired in a hotter part of the kiln than the plate.

gorgeous glazes - I love the way you can never guess exactly how they'll turn out!
