After: Roof

Ross the Painter finaly managed to find a break in his schedule and the weather to finish off our roof. Here it is in all it's shiny glory!

If (like me) you're having trouble seeing the difference, my original before post (in colour here) might help.

Magnolia grandiflora

Because of the intermittent, drizzly rain we've been having out here in Ipswich, my roof 'after' photos are going to have to wait. I'm optimistic that there will be something for you to look at tomorrow, because today is looking lovely and un-rainy. Fingers crossed!

So instead I have some more tree love for you ... My latest love is Magnolia grandiflora. I'm going to put one of these right out the front of the house to pay homage to the typical 'homestead fig' that so many old rural queensland properties seem to have.

This particular flower was snapped on my morning walk, the scent is amazing - citrus and floral. I will admit that these blossoms aren't the best for my impatience. It takes a week or more for the bud to decide to open and then the blooms last little more than a day or two. Such exquisite transience.

For my darlinglet

Here are some photos of the erosion control measures my husband suggested to his brother. It's bird seed from the local supermarket and I'm waiting for the sunflowers to pop up! My brother-in-law owns the three lots either side of us, so it's nice to know that his back yard won't be washing down the hill in the next shower of rain!

Also, I have it on good authority (Ross the Painter) that I should have roof after photos for you by the end of the day. Although it looks like rain at the moment ... we'll have to wait and see I guess.

My first before and after

Well actually this is just the before ... the after hasn't happened yet!

Our roof is being painted, I know it's not really the most exciting thing in the world to look at, but I'm excited so here it is ... My roof, before:

I had to share these little mushrooms found on my morning walk. They remind me of Marilyn Monroe.
