Anyway, because of the inclement weather I spent most of the weekend pottering around mum's immaculate, pampered gardens stretching my little camera to it's limits ... here are the results.

I love magnolia blossoms, even when they're fading. Such a beautiful rust coloured patina.

The ominous sky as it appeared for most of the weekend!

The strange inedible limes from mum and da's kaffir lime tree (Citrus hystrix).

The dam water is so murky and brown from all the run off. Mum and da's house can never go under in a flood because of the dam, but they do have a fold-out-couch at their medical practice in town because they often get flooded out.

My mum has a bit of a thing for whimsical nesting boxes.

This one is called cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) ... for obvious reasons!

I'm going to have to plant some tropical birches (Betula nigra) at Toxteth too. I love their peeling textured trunk and delicate foliage.

The shed and pump house. Da found the recycled corrugated iron at the dump!

That first shot of the fading magnolia blossom is absolutely amazing! You've bought the colours to life so brilliantly and truthfully. Love your dad's red shed too!
