Clifton Weekend

As a result of it being a long weekend, and my husband having abandoned me because of work commitments, I decided to go to Clifton with my parents to see my Grandma. Having previously visited my Aunt and Uncle who also live in Clifton, I was preparing myself for a fairly uninspiring weekend.

Perhaps I should explain ... My Aunt and Uncle have a very lovely Queenslander surrounded by very lovely and extensive gardens but ... all of their neighbours are fairly industrial type businesses. When we last went to visit we must have taken the back route, because the resulting impression of Clifton was a bit truck stop-y to say the least.

So I was pleasantly surprised to discover the beautiful side of Clifton this weekend ... Here are some snippets of my adventure!

I've been inspired to try growing strawberries again after seeing these luscious specimens at Grandmas.

Why can't all RSL's look like this?

A beautiful house with a great entry arbour discovered on a morning walk. I need an arbour at Toxteth. Not want, need!

A local church.

I never realised how cute acorns are. I've decided I want an oak just for the sweet little dimpled berets they wear.

I love the colour of this dilapidated old house and the moody storm clouds rolling in.

We also paid a visit to the Allora open day (pronounced Al-ara by the locals), vintage cars and tractors galore. My dad was like a kid in a lolly shop, he didn't know which way to look!

I for one have decided that I need a Hillman Minx. I'm loving the chrome against that beautiful teal paint.

And who could resist a bright orange vintage tractor with custom sunbrella! Aussie aussie aussie.
