Babies Bum Jumpers

The munch and I have been getting crafty recently. I was finding that the PUL (plastic laminated polyester fabric) covers that I'd made were giving her a bit of nappy rash, so we've switched to wool.

I must admit that I was skeptical ... no matter how many people on the internet (and my mum) say that woolly things are fab to go over nappies, I kept thinking that everything would all leak out the gaping great holes in the knit. Turns out I was wrong, and now I can't get enough!

Jumping in at the deep end (having never successfully completed knitting ANYTHING) I knitted three woolly soakers from this pattern with some minor amendments as I went along.

Today I've made some daddy friendly, quick change daytime covers out of old moth eaten jumpers. The knitted soakers are great for night when they aren't being changed for 12 hours, but they're a little tricky to get on and off in a hurry.

All I have to do now is re-lanolise them!

They are so very clever indeed. Well done you!

If ever you need to make more daytime ones and don't have jumpers to use, I found wool blanketing (I got mine from Creswick Woollen Mills) is awesome for soakers. You can even double (sometimes triple) the fabric for better wear overnight.
