Here's some of the stuff we grew and some of the things that are still there.

Beans have just started fruiting. We tried peas first but they got absolutely fried in the hot weather we had recently. Two punnets of peas later and the beans seem to be much happier in the same spot!

Our first baby pumpkin!

Squash are so unbelievably easy to grow. I would completely recommend them to anyone who wants to grow something but doesn't know where to start. We had fruit in a couple of weeks and they lasted for months. Considering that these beauties are rather expensive to buy at the supermarket they're well worth the almost no effort that goes into growing them!

A mixed bag of home grown bits and pieces.
The ladies are producing more eggs than we can eat, we've been dating the eggs with a pencil as a way to keep track! Our tomatoes were a bit sparse because I planted them a little too close to the squash and they got swamped. The few that we've manage to rescue from the birds have been yummy though. The corn was the most exciting thing for me. We got three good ears from five plants because I didn't plant them in a block and they didn't pollinate as well as they should have ... the boy had to help them out because they're usually wind pollinated. Despite all the shenanigans, it was the sweetest, juiciest corn that I've ever eaten. The interesting thing about corn is that the quicker you eat it after it's picked the sweeter it is. We compared an ear picked the day before with an ear picked an hour earlier and the difference was huge! I can't wait to grow some more.

There's nothing quite like eating your own home-grown veggies is there?! I am very impressed with yours, my veggie patch is looking rather grim at the moment... Might have to give it another go though, feeling quite inspired by your post and all this rain we've been getting recently!
p.s. your corn story reminded me of when we'd ride our horses through the dutch landscape ~ we'd pass these corn fields and let the horses munch on the cobs that were on the ground ~ they loved it!
How good are home grown vegies and fresh eggs, one of my favourite things about living in the country.
Those photos of your produce are gorgeous! We moved to the country 9 years ago so we could grow our own produce and now we have made a business out of it.
